Veenstra completes his original artwork in glass utilizing a variety of techniques. Although he uses traditional stained glass techniques similar to Tiffany, he more commonly creates dynamic three dimensional etched glass scenes using a variety of sand blasting techniques which he has come to master over the last 15 years.

Another unique art glass niche that Veenstra occupies utilizes a technique he developed and refers to as ”Copper Overlay” (sculpted copper overlain on stained glass).

The common theme threaded through Veenstra's artwork is that of nature, wildlife, landscapes and outdoor activities.
